At the beginning of the meeting, Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko called on the deputies to approve this decision

On Thursday, July 14, the Kyiv City Council supported the decision to create landscape reserve on both slopes of Protasiv Yar, for which public figure Roman Ratushny fought.

85 deputies voted for the creation of the nature reserve, reports the public organization "Protect Protasiv Yar" on Facebook.

"We are aware that this is only the beginning. That one decision on paper cannot create a reserve. We are ready and we will work on the implementation of this decision. We will defend this decision if necessary," said ecoactivists.

They also added that it is necessary to carry out work on the arrangement and development of Protasiv Yar, but an important step towards the dream of the people of Kyiv and Town Hall has already been taken.

In the press service Kyiv Council noted that at the beginning of the meeting, the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko called on the deputies to approve this decision. He appealed to the deputies with the demand that the land and environmental commissions, which did not meet in the morning to support community amendments, should meet in the break after the meeting on military issues.

Earlier EcoPolitic reported, that eco-activists demand the Kyiv City Council to include in the agenda of the July 14 meeting the draft decision on creation of a landscape reserve on both slopes of Protasiv Yar.

As EcoPolitic previously wrote, the economic chamber of the Supreme Court refused the "Bora" company to satisfy the cassation appeal regarding sections of Protasiv Yar in Kyiv, thus depriving them of the opportunity to conduct construction work.
