Draft law No. 6478 "On wastewater disposal in populated areas" is being prepared for the second reading

On Monday, December 12, 2022, a meeting of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Environmental Policy and Nature Management will be held via video conference at 10:30 a.m.

EcoPolitic prepared for its readers committee's agenda.

The People's Deputies will consider draft law No. 6478 "On sewage disposal of populated areas", for which the environmental committee is designated as the main one. The document is being prepared for the second reading.

The draft law proposes to determine the legal, economic and organizational principles of the functioning of centralized and non-centralized drainage systems by adopting a separate law on the field of drainage.

The EcoCommittee had to finalize the document, taking into account numerous amendments and proposals of legal subjects of the legislative initiative before the second reading.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that on July 1, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved draft law No. 6478 in the first reading "On sewage disposal of populated areas".

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Ukraine due to climate change and military aggression of the Russian Federation, water security is under threat, as most large rivers and lakes have become shallow and polluted, and small reservoirs are on the verge of disappearing. The critical shortage of water is a problem that is relevant for twenty oblasts of Ukraine.
