Hazardous substances that poison land and underground water cause irreparable damage to the environment

Eco-inspectors have calculated 1.3 trillion hryvnias of damages that russian troops have caused to the environment of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

About a third of this amount, namely more than 407.3 billion hryvnias, was caused by damage to land resources, reports State Inspection on Telegram.

This amount is calculated on September 30, 2022.

In the message, it was noted that during surveys of places of extraordinary events, eco-inspectors record land plots littered with fragments of ammunition, destroyed buildings, and infrastructure facilities. In addition, soils pollute with dangerous substances that poison land and groundwater, causing irreparable damage to the environment.

Russian troops also caused more than 176.5 billion hryvnias of damage to the atmosphere. After all, during fires caused by shelling, in particular in the territories of the nature reserve fund and in forests, polluting substances enter the air.

The message noted that all calculations were made in accordance with the approved methods developed by the specialists of the State Environmental Inspection and the Operational Headquarters.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets said that Ukraine will initiate the creation of the Global Platform for the development of international methods for assessing environmental damage from military operations.

As previously EcoPolitic reported, Yevhenii Fedorenko, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, stated that the estimated amount of damage caused by Russian troops to the nature of Ukraine, has already reached $35 billion and is growing every day.
