The excess of MAC for the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide decreased to the maximum level by 5.6 times

In the air of Kyiv during the week from June 20 to June 25, 2022, an excess of the average daily maximum permissible concentrations was detected, however, the level of pollution with formaldehyde and nitrogen dioxide decreased.

However, levels of carbon monoxide pollution have risen, according to the weekly report on air pollution of the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.

Specialists observatories took and analyzed 1380 atmospheric air samples at 15 stationary posts.

According to the observatory, the excess of the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) for the average daily content of nitrogen dioxide last week was:

  • 4.2-5.6 times on Victory Square, Kaunasskaya and Semyon Sklyarenko streets;
  • 2.7-3.8 times on Demeevskaya Square, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, Pobedy and Obolonsky Avenues, in the Hydropark area, Academician Strazhesko and Popudrenko streets;
  • not found at Nauki Avenue, 37 (near the meteorological site).

Exceeding the MPC for the average daily content of formaldehyde:

  • 3.0-3.7 times on Demiivska and Pobeda squares, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, Pobeda avenue, Akademika Strazhesko, Kaunasskaya and Sklyarenko streets;
  • 2.0-2.8 times in the Hydropark area, Nauki and Obolonsky avenues, Popudrenko street.

Exceeding the MPC for the average daily content carbon monoxide by 1.0-1.9 times on Pobedy Square, Pobedy Avenue, in the Hydropark area, Akademik Strazhesko Streets (cross section with Vaclav Havel Boulevard) and Engineer Borodin.

Exceeding the Maximum allowable concentration for the average daily content suspended solids did not change compared to the previous week - by 1.0 times on Pobedy Avenue (Svyatoshino metro area), Kaunasskaya Street.

Recall that in Kyiv, in some places increased levels of pollution air six times.

As EcoPolicy reported earlier, all beaches in Kyiv were checked for the presence of explosive objects. From 22 urban recreation areas near the water bathing was forbidden on four.
