The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on the launch of an electronic logging ticket and certificate of wood origin.

This will make it impossible to falsify permit documents and will make it possible to fully trace the circulation of wood from the place of harvest to sale for export, the state enterprise Forests of Ukraine reports on Facebook.

The message explained that a logging ticket is a permission document for harvesting wood. It contains all the necessary information regarding cubic capacity, material and monetary evaluation, characteristics of wood, etc.

It is noted that such a ticket will be issued for each individual plot where harvesting is planned, and will contain information on all types of felling. The document applies to all forest users.

The press service emphasized that the transition to an electronic logging ticket will allow:

  • prevent corruption risks that existed during the validity of the paper document;
  • to keep accurate information about felling in forests, which ensures control over forest use and prevents illegal felling;
  • get the document online quickly and conveniently;
  • the ticket is automatically entered on the site map of SE "LIAC" and in the EOD system;
  • a single electronic database will replace separate paper databases.

The report added that the certificate of wood origin, which is required by exporters, will now also be available in electronic form.

The changes will come into effect on June 1, 2023.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Transcarpathia on the border with Hungary, customs officials discovered the illegal export of timber worth almost 300,000 hryvnias. The violator submitted documents with false information, and the timber certificate was issued to another batch.
