In Ukraine, as part of the Green Country program, in the spring of 2023, 108 million trees were planted on an area of 15,180 hectares.
The largest number of new trees, almost 25.5 million, were planted in Zhytomyr region, the state enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" reports on Facebook.
It is noted that the area of newly created forests reached 702 hectares. In addition, 13,345 hectares of previously planted forests were supplemented with new seedlings.

- Poltava - 4,085 thousand;
- Kharkiv - 1,331 thousand;
Eastern Forest Office:
- Dnipropetrovsk - 2,172 thousand;
Central forest office:
- Vinnytsia - 3 million 837 thousand seedlings;
- Kirovohradsk - 862 thousand seedlings;
- Cherkasy - 4 million 553 thousand seedlings;
Southern Forest Office:
- Mykolayivska – 371 thousand;
- Odesa - 284 thousand;
Polisky forest office:
- Volynsk - 7,858 thousand;
- Rivne - 20,046 thousand;
Metropolitan forest office:
- Kyiv - 11,434 thousand;
- Zhytomyrska - 25,465 thousand.
The Green Country eco-program envisages the planting of 1 billion trees by 2026. So far, 343,038,393 trees have been planted, and the planned number of trees planted by the summer of 2023 reaches 343,100,000 trees.
The message added that in addition to "Forests of Ukraine" trees are also planted by other forest users.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the first week of the spring tree planting campaign in Ukraine, foresters planted almost 23 million saplings, in particular in the de-occupied territories.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in 2021 the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a decree on the launch of the "Green Country" project. Within the framework of which, in 10 years, they want to increase the area of Ukrainian forests by 1 million hectares, eliminate the "gray" wood market, and conduct an inventory of forests.
