In Ukraine, during the week of the spring tree planting campaign, foresters planted almost 23 million saplings, in particular in the de-occupied territories, as part of the Green Country program.
Thus, 3,677 hectares of forest were planted in the country, of which 160.5 hectares are new, the state enterprise Forests of Ukraine reports on Facebook.
The report emphasized that foresters also added new trees to previous plantings on an area of 354 hectares.
It is noted that the largest number of trees were planted in Zhytomyr region – 5.9 million, as well as in Volyn (almost 2.5 million) and Kyiv (2.2 million) regions.

- Dnipropetrovsk – 719 thousand;
Central forest office:
- Vinnytsia – 1,374 thousand;
- Kirovohradsk – 77 thousand;
- Cherkasy – 768 thousand;
Southern Forest Office:
- Mykolayiv – 246 thousand;
- Odesa – 211 thousand;
Polisky forest office:
- Volyn – 2,497 thousand;
- Rivne – 5,575 thousand;
Metropolitan forest office:
- Kyiv – 2,254 thousand;
- Zhytomyrska – 5,963 thousand.
The message explained that the number of planted trees depends on the weather and climate conditions of the region.
It is noted that new trees are being planted as part of the Green Country environmental program, the goal of which is to plant 1 billion trees. So far, 256,307,000 seedlings have been planted. You can track the progress of the landing on the program website.
The informant emphasized that by planting trees, you can help children with cancer, who are cared for by the "Tabletochki" charitable foundation. Thus, for a donation of 50 hryvnias, a new tree appears in the forest. All money goes directly to the account of the charity fund. So far, it has been possible to collect 88 thousand hryvnias.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that on World Forest Day, March 21, a spring campaign for planting forests was officially launched in Ukraine, as part of which at least 200 million seedlings are planned to be planted.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, in 2023 the state-owned enterprise Forests of Ukraine will create a Center for combating forest fires in the Chernihiv region, where firefighters will undergo systematic, comprehensive and operational training.
