Ukrainians are urged to remember the economical and responsible consumption of electricity during the evening peak hours

In Ukraine, thanks to solar energy and favorable weather during the day, there is practically no shortage of generation.

Restrictions are applied only in those regions where there are problems with networks and substations, Andrii Gerus, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, reported on Telegram.

He emphasized that as of February 9, such restrictions were applied in Odesa and part of the region, in Kyiv and part of the region, and in Zhytomyr Oblast.

"The energy system works in online mode, every second the demand must equal the supply. Therefore, during the day, when the solar power plants are working, we have no deficit, and in the hours of peak consumption in the evening, there is a deficit again," said Gerus.

He also urged Ukrainians to remember the economical and responsible consumption of electricity from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Kherson region, DTEK began to restore the operation of the Trifonivska solar power plant, which already provides energy to the residents of the region.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a study by the think tank Ember showed that in 2022, renewable energy produced 22% of all electricity in EU states, ahead of energy generated from gas (20%) and coal (16%).
