Ukrainian ecoactivists submitted to the Ministry protection of the environment and natural resources comments and proposals to the Law "On Environmental Impact Assessment", in particular, regarding the implementation of restoration work on residential facilities without the EIA procedure.
However, the reconstruction of enterprises and infrastructure should be subject to EIA, because it can harm the environment, reports the public organization "Enough to poison Kryvyi Rih" on Facebook.
"Flora", Peli can live and "Green Leaf" associations also joined the development of proposals.
Main offers:
- introduce the definition of "up-to-date environmental information" into the Law, because polluting companies often use outdated, unreliable information when preparing a report on environmental protection;
- specify activities that are not subject to environmental impact assessment;
- provide an opportunity for the public to participate in the procedures and receive reports in response to requests to the authorized body and economic entity during the period of limited access to the Unified Register of EIA, which may be introduced, in particular, due to martial law;
"After all, access to environmental information is a right guaranteed by environmental legislation and the Aarhus Convention," ecoactivists explained.
- based on the results of public discussions, add an opportunity for polluting enterprises to make changes and submit an edited report from the EIA.
Eco-activists believe that this will reduce the risk of corruption, save money and time for the polluting company and the authorized bodies.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrotre,that the professional association of ecologists of Ukraine criticized the Ministry of Environment for not considering 7 business proposals for the new draft law "On Environmental Impact Assessment". Also ecologists critically assessed the proposals parts of determining the grounds for providing an opinion from the Department of Internal Affairs regarding the inadmissibility of the planned activity, as well as other procedural points.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, despite minor positive changes, in general, businesses and public organizations have many comments on the EIA procedure.
