The government updated the types of activities that are not covered by EIA

The construction of overhead power lines with a voltage of 220 kV or more is not subject to the OVD procedure

At its meeting on Tuesday, August 1, the Cabinet of Ministers made changes to the Criteria for determining planned activities that are not subject to an environmental impact assessment.

This was reported by the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk in Telegram.

It is noted that these norms were approved by the Resolution of the CMU dated 13.12.2017 No. 1010 "On approval of criteria for determining planned activities that are not subject to environmental impact assessment, and criteria for determining expansions and changes of activities and objects that are not subject to environmental impact assessment".

Melnychuk said that from now on, activities with:

  • construction of overhead power lines with a voltage of 220 kV or more and substations with a voltage of 330 kV or more during martial law;
  • placement during martial law of mobile generating or gas turbine installations and associated gas and electricity networks, metering nodes, other related equipment within the land plots on which gas transportation system facilities are located, based on the technical conditions for connecting to the gas transportation system in the manner established by the Code gas transportation system.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that on July 13, the Verkhovna Rada voted in the second reading for draft law No. 8410 "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Environmental Impact Assessment", which in particular shortens the duration of the EIA procedure from 216 to 67 days.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, on July 29, the new Law No. 3227-IX "On environmental impact assessment" entered into force in Ukraine, as a result of which, from July 31, the public discussion of the ATS report will take place according to the new rules.
