Ukrenergo will receive €150 million to pay off debt to green generation

The debt of "Ukrenergo" for the service to increase the share of "green" generation in the energy system reaches 12 billion hryvnias

The National Commission for Energy and Utilities (NEURC) approved signing of a loan agreement between NEC Ukrenergo and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the amount of €300 million.

€150 million will be directed to the restoration and maintenance of the electricity transmission system of Ukraine, and the rest to the partial repayment of debt to renewable energy sources (RES), reports RBC-Ukraine.

The article explained that €150 million will be directed to Ukrenergo's working capital needs to finance critical operating costs related to the generation of electricity from RES and the payment of compensation for limiting generation from RES.

According to "Guaranteed Buyer", the debt of NEC Ukrenergo for the service of increasing the share of green generation in the energy system reaches 12 billion hryvnias.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine should place bonds for repayment of debts to producers of clean energy in October 2021. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal agreed with this during the meeting of the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Ukraine due to the full-scale invasion of Russia 90% of wind capacities have been decommissioned and 30% of solar power plants.
