The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has amended the Procedure for State Water Monitoring. From now on, domestic measuring laboratories will apply the practice of a quality management system in accordance with DSTU EN ISO/IEC 17025:2019 ‘General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories’.

This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology.

This state standard implements European Commission Directive 2009/90/EC.

The international standard DSTU ISO/IEC 17025 establishes requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. At the end of 2017, the international standardisation organisations ISO and IEC published a new version of this standard. It has been implemented in the EU as EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and in Ukraine as DSTU EN ISO/IEC 17025:2019.

But its requirements are applied not only for the accreditation of the testing laboratory by national accreditation agencies, but mainly for the organization of quality work in the laboratory itself.

The Ministry of Environment noted that compliance with accreditation requirements by measuring laboratories ensures the reliability, accuracy and reliability of monitoring data and real information about the state of water bodies. The department also reminded that the proposed changes correspond to European integration obligations in the field of water policy and will contribute to the implementation of EU-unified approaches to the assessment of the state of water.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that 3 years ago, the first laboratory in Ukraine received accreditation in accordance with the requirements of DSTU EN ISO/IEC 17025:2019 in the field of chemical and physical-chemical methods of testing surface, wastewater, underground water and soil. It is located in Ivano-Frankivsk.
