When the heat supply is turned off, you should not turn on more than one heater, because the network may not withstand it

Specialists of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development have developed tips for Ukrainians in case of turning off the heating during cold weather.

They also named 4 rules that will help to avoid accidents in case of force majeure, KMDA reports on Facebook.

What to do when the heat supply is turned off:

  • monitor official notifications of the city authorities about possible accidents;
  • choose one room in the house for heating;
  • tightly close the windows with curtains, blinds, shutters;
  • turn on additional heat sources, but no more than one electric heater, because the network may not withstand;
  • drink hot drinks and eat hot food;
  • find out about the location of heating points;
  • agree in advance with loved ones about joint actions. If possible, move to relatives or friends who have heating.

How to protect yourself and your family from accidents:

  • do not warm yourself with gas stoves, lit stoves and other unsuitable means;
  • do not use "burners", gasoline diesel generators, gas cylinders in apartments;
  • do not turn on more than one electric heater;
  • do not drink alcoholic beverages for a false sense of warmth.

The press service of the KMDA emphasized that in Kyiv, due to weather conditions and the need to save electricity, the heating season began on October 20. The city authorities have carried out all the necessary preparatory work and are doing everything for the life support of Kyiv.

"Currently, the situation in the city is under control and there are no reasons for panic. In preparation for winter, the city purchased, attracted foreign partners and continues to purchase generators, heat guns, equips heating stations, secures critical infrastructure facilities," the message reads.

As EcoPolitic reported before, specialists of the analytical center DiXi Group have prepared tips for Ukrainians just in case force majeure shutdowns electricity, water, gas and heat supply.
