The system will allow the state to monitor the complete life cycle of each ton of waste

In Ukraine, it is possible now to get a license for the management of hazardous waste online on the EkoSystem platform.

Businesses no longer need to wait for documents to reach the Ministry of Environment by mail and be registered, reports Ministry of Environment on Telegram.

"We are gradually but surely improving and digitalizing our interaction, bringing order in the field," said the head of the Ministry of Environment, Ruslan Strilets.

He noted that if scanned files and electronic digital signature are available, documents can be sent even from the phone, and automated prompts will prevent technical errors.

This service will become part of the nationwide information system of waste management, the creation of which is provided for by the framework law "On Waste Management". The Ministry of Environment is already working on the development of such a system.

The system will allow the state to control the complete life cycle of each ton of waste - from its generation, transportation route to processing.

"So the market will work transparently, and Ukrainians will less and less find garbage dumps in forest strips, parks, near their own houses. In particular, with hazardous waste. Because, for example, just one battery that falls into a river causes more damage than thousands of tons of industrial waste," Strilets emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on July 7 signed the Law about waste management.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Ukraine, business entities that transport waste that is safe for people and the environment across the border will be able to get online results three times faster on cross-border transportation in EkoSystem.
