The development of the Hydrogen Strategy is being finalized in Ukraine

Ukraine can become one of the guarantors of the energy security of the European continent, help overcome the cost of living crisis and avoid crisis prices in the future.

This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi during a speech at the international conference Shelf of the Northern Seas, reports the State Energy Efficiency Agency on Facebook.

He also called on the international community to invest in the production of renewable energy and green hydrogen in Ukraine.

"Our state is one of the best locations for providing all of Europe with green energy and green hydrogen. We have everything for this – enough land, good wind, good sun, as well as ready energy logistics – powerful power transmission lines, this gas pipelines that can be used for hydrogen – of course, after appropriate modernization," Zelenskyi said.

It is also planned to increase the export of Ukrainian electricity to EU countries. After all, it is much cheaper than the European one.

"We can really help overcome the crisis of the cost of living in our neighboring EU countries," he noted. Ukraine can become and, I believe, will become one of the guarantors of the energy security of the European continent. Together with Ukraine, you will be able to prevent such price hikes ever again"

The article noted that Norway is an example to follow in energy transformation.

Zelenskyi also noted Norway's contribution to the development of renewable energy sources, carbon capture and storage, development of batteries and hydrogen energy.

Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gar Støre confirmed the intention to play a key role in the energy transition together with European countries.

"We are fully committed to creating efficient value chains for hydrogen that will benefit Norwegian industry and transport systems as well as our energy partners in Europe," said Støre.

He also added that Norway is committed to dramatically increase the production of renewable energy from offshore wind farms.

The article also noted that the Ministry of Energy, together with the State Energy Efficiency Agency, the scientific, business and international community are working out ways to build a hydrogen economy in Ukraine. The development of the Hydrogen Strategy of Ukraine is being finalized within the framework of a working group based on the Ministry of Energy.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko stated that the EU is interested in the development of Ukrainian renewable energy sources, in particular, biomethane and hydrogen.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the general director of Ukrhydroenergo Ihor Syrota said that the company plans to start production of green hydrogen at DniproHPP in the first half of 2023.
