In Lviv, a sorting ship is installed in the Zamarstyn Park, which will help separate 6 types of waste.

It is equipped with compartments for collecting plastic bottles and their lids, metal, glass, Tetra Pak-type packaging and cardboard, and its sails are information banners, the Zero Waste Lviv public organization reports on Facebook.

The structure was installed during the festival "Balaton-fest-2022".

Eco-activists noted that such a ship would allow the city to save money on park cleaning and waste removal, as well as save the neighborhood from pollution.

"Preliminarily, we conducted an analysis of the morphological composition of waste in this park, saw the ratio of their different types and how much resource-valuable waste ends up in the landfill and how much volume it occupies," they write.

The design provides for separate compartments for six different types of waste currently processed in Ukraine. However, it is important that the citizens and guests of Lviv first pour out the remaining liquids and food, and squeeze the boxes, cans and PET bottles by unscrewing the lids. Only containers and packaging should enter the ship.

One of the sail-banners displays information about exactly what can be thrown to the ship, and the other - an encouragement to reduce waste generation, in particular, the use of reusable items.

Sorted garbage will be collected by the recycling company "Terra Recycling Lviv" for further processing.

"We hope that this approach to the collection of recyclables in the park will be popular among visitors and that this practice will be used in other parks of Lviv," added the eco-activists.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Lviv, the reception point for secondary raw materials resumed its work Silpo Recitzling from the Silpo supermarket chain.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the city of Lubotyn in the Kharkiv region the public composter started working.
