In Kyiv, tap water may turn yellow, but it will remain safe for consumption.

This is due to the spring flood, reports "Kyivvodokanal" on Facebook.

The message explained that this year's flood is rapid and large-scale. Therefore, the Kyiv HPP began intensive water discharge, which led to the deterioration of water quality in the Dnipro River.

"The level and quality of water in the Dnipro directly affect the technological processes of water treatment," the press service explained. "Kyivvodokanal specialists have studied all seasonal fluctuations in water quality in surface sources and are always ready to adjust the operation mode of our water supply stations."

It is noted that the flood can temporarily affect the color, that is, one of the indicators of water quality.

"This indicator affects the quality of water only visually and does not indicate its danger," explained in "Kyivvodokanal".

The message emphasized that water safety is monitored at all stages of water preparation, in particular its physico-chemical and microbiological parameters. Currently, the water quality remains within the normal range.

Previously, EcoPolitic conducted a unique study of surface water quality in 8 reservoirs and 11 pumping stations in Kyiv and the region. Exceeding the pollution standards was detected in 5 rivers and lakes, as well as in 1 pumping station.
