Specialists of the observatory analyzed 1,592 air samples

During the week of January 15-20, the average daily maximum permissible concentration of nitrogen dioxide was found to be 3.1 times higher than the maximum permissible concentration in Kyiv.

Compared to the previous week, the content of pollutants in the air has slightly decreased, according to the weekly air pollution report from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.

According to the observatory, the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of nitrogen dioxide was exceeded by the average daily content:

  • in 3.1 times – on the street Hetman Pavlo Polubotka (January 17);
  • in 1.6-2.2 times – on Oleksandr Dovzhenka, Inzhener Borodin, Semyon Sklyarenko streets, on Halytskaya, Bessarabskaya squares, on Beresteyskyi, Obolonskyi avenues, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard ;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content of sulfur dioxide:

  • in 2.0-2.7 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Beresteyski and Obolonski avenues, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, Hetman Pavlo Polubotko, Inzhener Borodin and Semen Sklyarenko streets, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard;
  • in 1.3-1.9 times – on the street Akademika Strazheska, Hydropark area ;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily formaldehyde content:

  • 1.0-1.5 times on Halytskaya, Demiivskaya and Bessarabskaya squares, Beresteyskyi and Obolonskyi avenues, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenka and Sklyarenko streets, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard .

Observatory specialists collected and analyzed 1592 atmospheric air samples from 16 stationary posts.

According to the forecasts, meteorological conditions for the next 2-3 days will not contribute to the dispersion of harmful impurities in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, on Wednesday, January 24, in Kyiv, public air quality monitoring stations recorded a harmful level of particulate matter (dust) PM2.5 – 152 AQI.

of the content of solid particles (dust) PM2.5 – 152 AQI.
