Specialists of the observatory analyzed 1483 air samples

During the week of November 20-25, the average daily maximum permissible concentration of sulfur dioxide was found to be 2.2 times higher than the average daily maximum permissible concentration.

Compared to the previous week, the content of formaldehyde and nitrogen dioxide decreased, according to the weekly air pollution report from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.

According to the observatory, the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of nitrogen dioxide was exceeded by the average daily content:

  • in 1.5-2.1 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Obolonsky prospect, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademik Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenka, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Kaunaska and Semyon Sklyarenko streets ;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content of sulfur dioxide:

  • by 1.6-2.2 times – on Demiivska, Bessarabska and Halytska squares, Obolonsky prospect, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, in the Hydropark area, Akademik Strazheska, Oleksandr Dovzhenka, Hetman Pavlo Polubotka, Kaunaska and Semyon Sklyarenko streets ;
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily formaldehyde content:

  • 1.9 times – on Bessarabska Square (November 22);
  • 1.8 times – in the Hydropark area (November 24);
  • 1.1-1.6 times – on Demiivska and Halytska squares, Obolonsky prospect, Lesya Ukrainka boulevard, Dovzhenka and Semena Sklyarenko streets .

Specialists of the observatory selected and analyzed 1483 atmospheric air samples from 14 stationary stations.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, four cities of Kyiv region, namely Bila Tserkva, Kyiv, Ukrainka and Brovary, entered the TOP-10 cities of Ukraine with exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations of nitrogen dioxide in the first half of 2023.
