Specialists of the observatory collected and analyzed 1,590 samples of atmospheric air

In the air of Kyiv during the week with 8 to 13 in August 2022, an excess of the average daily maximum permissible concentrations of nitrogen dioxide by 3.5 times and formaldehyde by 3.3 times was found.

Compared to the previous week, the level of formaldehyde and carbon monoxide pollution decreased, the weekly report on air pollution from the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory informs.

According to the data of the observatory, the limit of permissible concentration (MPC) is exceeded according to the average daily content nitrogen dioxide was:

  • in 3.0-3.5 times – on Peremoha, Demiivska and Bessarabska squares, Obolonskiy avenue, Kaunaska and Semena Sklyarenko streets;
  • 2.1-2.9 times – on Peremogy Avenue, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, in the Hydropark district, Akademik Strazheska, Inzhener Borodin, Dovzhenka and Popudrenka streets,
  • no excesses were observed at 37 Nauky Ave. (in the area of the meteorological station).

Exceeding the MPC by average daily content Formaldehyde:

  • 3.0-3.3 times – on Bessarabska Square, Peremogy Avenue, Lesya Ukrainka Boulevard, Kaunaska Street;
  • by 1.9-2.8 times – on Demiivska and Peremogy squares, Obolonskyi and Nauka avenues, in the Hydropark district, Akademika Strazheska, Dovzhenka, Popudrenka and Sklyarenko streets.

Other exceedances of MPC by average daily content:

  • suspended solids – 1.0-1.1 times on Bessarabska and Peremoha squares, Peremoha avenue (Sviatoshyn metro area), Kaunaska street;
  • of carbon monoxide – 2.0 times on Inzhener Borodin Street, 1.0 times on Akademik Strazheska Street (intersection with Vaclav Havel Boulevard) and Dovzhenka Street.

Specialists of the observatory selected and analyzed 1,590 samples of atmospheric air from 16 stationary stations.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the main indicators of the environment in Ukraine for 16 August has appeared.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, a study regarding evaluation of microdistricts according to ecological indicators, in particular, the quality of air, drinking water, the state of water resources, soils, the availability of green areas, and littering of territories was conducted in Kyiv.
