Personnel issues at state-owned companies were the focus of a discussion that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held on April 28 with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Specifically, potential staff changes concern the state-owned enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" due to a major crisis in the forestry sector, information about which has even reached the head of state.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel.

"In recent weeks, we have received a great deal of information regarding the unresolved critical issues in the forestry sector and the protection of our Carpathians and other significant natural environments in Ukraine," the president wrote.

The head of state assured that decisions regarding new personnel approaches would be made shortly.

It should be recalled that earlier the president redirected a petition for the urgent protection of the Carpathians to the government and the National Security and Defense Council.

The appeal by ecologist and veteran Andrii Tupikov, which collected 25,000 signatures in just five days, was prompted in particular by the uncontrolled construction of wind power plants in the high-mountain Carpathians.

Recently, after a joint meeting of the parliamentary committees on environmental policy and European integration, it became known that the Ministry of Development recognized the construction of foundations for wind generators as standalone structures as a violation of legislative and construction standards. Although previously, the Ministry of Economy, despite public outrage and protests from members of parliament, issued an EIA conclusion for the construction of a wind power plant on the territory of the Turya-Remetivska community in Zakarpattia region.

Additionally, EcoPolitic reported that already in 2025, due to crimes perpetrated by forestry officials, the environment suffered damages amounting to 546 million UAH.

Recently, prosecutors filed a lawsuit against SE “Forests of Ukraine” demanding compensation of 400 million UAH for the illicit logging of trees in the “Hutsulshchyna” National Park, which was organized by the previous management of SE “Kutske Forestry Enterprise.”

At the same time, the salaries of top executives at “Forests of Ukraine” turned out to be among the highest in the country. Some heads of regional branches officially earned over 10 million UAH during 2025.
