Vegetation began to recover in the reserve after illegal amber mining

In Zhytomyr region, the court recognized illegal inactivity of the state-owned enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" regarding the preservation of the hydrological reserve of local importance "Rechytsia" in the Zhytomyr region, where amber was illegally mined.

The company was obliged to establish the boundaries of the reserve and secure them in kind, without which it is impossible to ensure proper protection of the reserve, reports the press service of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office.

It is noted that the reserve with an area of 120 hectares is located in the Olev territorial community. It was created in 1984 to preserve the marshy massif in Polissia, which regulates the groundwater level. Shrubs of bog cranberry, swamp bog and other valuable types of medicinal plants grow in the reserve.

WITH and according to the conclusions of ecologists, the process of primary syngenesis is taking place in the reserve, that is, the restoration of vegetation damaged by illegal amber mining. In such a period, it is extremely important to establish a special regime for the protection of the landscape complex.

"The prosecutor's office appealed to the court and substantiated the need to take urgent measures for the reproduction, protection, protection and preservation of the hydrological reserve, which is a national asset. The Zhytomyr District Administrative Court supported the position of the prosecutor's office," the press service said.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources refused to approve amber mining at the "Kopyshchanska" site in the Zhytomyr Region, which is surrounded by the Polissky Reserve and the Urochyshche Gala nature reserve.
