A company from the Wind Farms Group has already started the EIA procedure

A part of the Runa meadow in Zakarpattia region, which has remained untouched so far due to its territorial affiliation with the Stavne community, may soon also be threatened by the construction of wind turbines for the controversial wind farm.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group (UNCG).

According to UNCG, on August 22, Turiansky Wind Park LLC received permission to develop land documentation for the construction of wind farms. It was granted by the Stavnenska village council.

On October 10, the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure for the construction of seven wind turbines in this area was launched. It is being carried out by West-Invest Energy, a company of the Wind Farms Group.

So far, there have been no official announcements about the start of construction. In other areas of the Runa, foundations for wind turbines were built without going through the EIA procedure, so environmentalists are concerned that this scenario may happen again.

The UNCG suggests that the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" is involved in the implementation of the meadow development project. It has built a forest road to Runa, destroying part of the virgin forests and habitats of Red Book species.

Earlier, EcoPolitic reported that the Zakarpattia State Environmental Inspection did not find violations in the construction of the controversial WPP. Before that, the State Environmental Inspection (SEI) refused to provide the inspection report on the legality of the construction, and the Zakarpattia Regional Administrative court refused to protect the polonyna from illegal wind turbine construction.
