Ukraine loses unique ecosystems due to military aggression forever, so the cost of losses must be appropriate

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the specialists of the Operational Headquarters have calculated 143 billion hryvnias of environmental damage from environmental crimes.

They worked through more than 400 emergencies that cause direct and indirect damage to the environment, reports State Environmental Inspectorate on Telegram.

As the most dangerous events in the material, fires at oil storage facilities were singled out, tanks with chemicals such as ammonia and saltpeter were blown up, damage to gas pipelines and the destruction of ships in the Black Sea.

"Detailed information is a secret until the end of hostilities and the final victory of Ukraine," the SEI explained.

However, for each of the cases, all the necessary initial data are collected, in particular, sampling for laboratory research, and the corresponding calculations are carried out.

This is necessary in order to bring the enemy to justice, using the instruments of international law and the evidence base created by the environmental specialists of the Operational Headquarters.

"We must remember that the infrastructure is being restored over the years, and the unique ecosystems of Ukraine, due to military aggression, we lose forever, so the cost of losses should be appropriate," the environmental inspectors noted.

Recall, n the Kherson region, prolonged forest fires can turn the fields into sand.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the shelling of the Chernihiv plastic plant caused tens of millions of losses.
