Residents of Kalyna 30, an apartment building co-owners' association in Lutsk, took advantage of the state program Energodom and carried out thermal modernization of their building. This allows them to save about UAH 9 thousand a year on heating bills per apartment.
The Energy Efficiency Fund, which implements this program, told about this case.
Project cost
In total, the thermal modernization of the building cost UAH 9.1 million. These costs were covered from three sources:
- the co-owners received a grant of UAH 6.4 million through the Energodom program;
- Lutsk City Council provided support to the condominiums for almost UAH 1 million;
- UAH 1.7 million was invested by the residents themselves; these funds are already being returned with the first heating seasons.
What work was done
The thermal modernization included wall insulation, roof repair and insulation, and the installation of an individual heating point. Members of the condominium say that in the first winter after the walls were insulated, when the roof was still to be finished, they felt the result – the savings on heating reached 40%.
After all the work was completed, the amount of heating bills was almost halved. And most importantly, it became dry, as all the residents used to complain about the cold, dampness and mold in the apartments.
How much is saved
Annual savings at the building level amount to more than half a million hryvnias. In terms of one 60 m² apartment, this is almost UAH 9 thousand. The energy consumption of the entire building has decreased by 43%, which is a significant financial relief for the future, in addition to the comfort that residents have now.
But the changes did not end with the modernization of the building. Thanks to cooperation with the city council, Kalyna 30 condominiums have improved their adjacent territory.
“Now we want to do even more – we have seen that everything is possible when there is support and a common goal,” says Liliia Slupachyk, the head of the condominium.
Three months ago, EcoPolitic told how 4 condominiums in Svitlovodsk, Kirovohrad Oblast, carried out a comprehensive thermal modernization of their buildings under the Energodom program.
