The leader among renewable energy sources is solar energy

The rapid development of RES and the use of photovoltaic panels in particular, in the near future can displace coal from the power generation industry and ensure a decrease in carbon dioxide emissions as early as 2025.

This, as well as other major trends in electricity production and consumption, the International Energy Agency cited in its report on the state of the electric power industry for the first half of 2024.

Now they are:

1. Global demand for electricity is growing at a record pace, exceeding 4% per year.

2. The rate of growth of electricity consumption is far ahead of the growth rate of the economy and (probably) any other energy source.

3. India and China show the fastest growth in electricity consumption among large regions.

4. For the first time in history, renewable energy sources are ahead of coal in terms of electricity production, according to forecasts in 2025.

5. Low-carbon sources, including renewables and nuclear power, are projected to meet all of the world's electricity demand.

6. Analysts predict a decrease in emissions from electricity production from 2025.

7. The deployment of solar photovoltaic plants is significantly ahead of any other form of electricity generation.

8. Experts warned about the crucial importance of electrical infrastructure security, its expansion and flexibility for a reliable supply of electricity in conditions of a significant increase in global demand.

Analysts concluded that electricity is critical to climate change, but climate change is also becoming critical to energy. After all, the intensification of heat waves helps increase the demand for energy and leads to ever greater loads on the system.

As reported EcoPolitic previously, according to forecasts of the International Energy Agency, record production of electricity from low-emission sources, in particular nuclear and renewable, should cover all the growth in global demand for electricity until 2026.

We also reported that the analysts of The Economist published development rates and main trends of the solar energy industry and came to the conclusion that the sun will rise the main source of energy for humanity by 2040.
