Over the past week, prosecutors have reported illegal deforestation totalling almost UAH 7 million.

The relevant reports were published on the websites of Lviv, Sumy and Kyiv regional prosecutor's offices.

1. Following claims filed by prosecutors from the Specialised Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a court opened proceedings against a forestry enterprise. The company failed to ensure the protection of forest plantations within the Bendyuzhske forestry within the administrative boundaries of the Sokal and Radekhiv territorial communities. Therefore, third unidentified persons illegally cut down 133 trees in the area.

The estimated cost of the damage is about UAH 2 million.

2. The Shostky district prosecutor's office reported suspicion to three residents of the Shostky district, who were engaged in illegal felling of trees on the lands of the forest fund.

They cut down 57 live oak trees, as well as 1 ash tree in the forest area located on the "Makove-Glukhiv" ridge without the appropriate permission.

By their actions, the violators caused damage to the forest in the total amount 1 million 355 thousand UAH .

3. On the basis of the indictments of the prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the forest masters of the SE "Specialized Forestry Enterprise "Kyivoblagrolis" will be tried. They are charged with official negligence.

The investigation established that the defendants allowed the illegal felling of 336 pine trees on the territory assigned to them in the Vyshgorod district.

By their inaction, they caused losses to the state almost UAH 3.5 million.
