In the center of Uzhgorod, eight trees of various species were cut down in the park near the building of the Zakarpattia Regional Military Administration and Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Square.
Damages reached 2.8 million hryvnias, the State Environmental Inspection in Zakarpattia Oblast reports on Facebook.
It is noted that the eco-inspectors will submit a claim for compensation for damage to the surrounding natural environment to the Uzhhorod City Council.
The press service said that the case materials will be sent to the Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office for further action.
The message emphasized that the country's natural resources are the property of the Ukrainian people.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Transcarpathia, on the nature reserve of one of the sanatoriums near Mukachevo, eco-inspectors discovered the felling of 30 oak trees, which caused damage in the amount of 7.4 million hryvnias. According to the instructions of the management, the park guards closed the entrance to the territory in order to prevent the work of eco-inspectors and the police.
As EcoPolitic reported earlier, in Transcarpathia, in one of the regional landscape parks of local importance near Uzhhorod, eco-inspectors found 230 stumps from illegally cut trees. The amount of damages reached 28 million hryvnias.
