In the Stryi district of Lviv region, in the Gai reserve near the village of Dolynivka, two hunters shot at a car carrying a forester and a gamekeeper during a night hunt.
This is stated in the ruling of the Skole District Court of Lviv Region, Obozrevatel reports.
According to law enforcement officers, two poachers armed with a rifle with a thermal imager went hunting in a reserve that is part of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine without proper permission.
The court ruling states that around midnight, one of the defendants saw a target in the thermal imager at a distance of 100-150 meters. The man thought it was a wild animal and fired in its direction. The bullet hit an off-road vehicle with a forester and a huntsman patrolling the area.
Additionally, the Skole court ruling noted that no one was injured in the shooting. However, the court recognized the men's actions as a violation of the law. They are suspected of illegal hunting. They were both imposed a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest from 22:00 to 06:00.
Law enforcement officers remind:
a violation of hunting rules that caused significant harm is a serious offense.
In particular, this concerns illegal hunting in nature reserves or other areas and sites belonging to the nature reserve fund. Violations also include hunting species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
