Plus 40 SPPs and 5.9 MW of total capacity: "OKKO continues its transition to solar energy

The company plans to reach more than 5 million kWh of generated electricity per year

In the first half of this year, the OKKO group of companies launched rooftop solar power plants (SPPs) at 40 more of its own gas stations, as well as on the building of its motor transport enterprise.

The news about the progress in using renewable energy sources (RES) and increasing energy independence was posted on the company's official website.

Currently, the OKKO network has 244 gas stations that cover part of their electricity needs through SES generation. Their total capacity has reached 5.9 MW.

The company plans to continue the solar electrification of its filling stations. Thus, in the coming years, approximately 100 more OKKO complexes may be equipped with solar power stations. This year, the network intends to invest UAH 30 million in solar power stations.

The company also said that the capacity of their rooftop solar power plants is mainly in the range of 15-25 kW, although there are several stations with a capacity of 50-65 kW.

One solar power station can provide from 15% to 55% of a gas station's daily electricity needs during the active generation period. This share depends on the capacity, electricity consumption, configuration, and other factors, OKKO explains. The company expects that in 2025, the total generation of solar stations at their gas stations will exceed 5 million kWh.

As EcoPolitics reported at the end of May, OKKO plans to increase its own RES capacity to 1 GW in 5 years.
