In the Kyiv region, on Tuesday, March 21, the "Fairy Ravine" nature reserve with an area of 169 hectares was created in Obukhiv district, thanks in particular to the popularity of the place in social networks.
The reservoir got its name thanks to the hashtag "kazkovyy_yar" because of the picturesque steppe landscape, reports the "Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group" on Facebook.
Eco-activists emphasized that "Fairy Ravine" is one of the largest steppe ravines in the Kyiv region, which has not been afforested or plowed. The ravine is also home to red book plants and animals.
They added that the "Fairy Ravine" has preserved the unique appearance of a typical beam of the Ukrainian Forest Steppe.
"Many residents of Kyiv region specially go to this place to take a photo against the background of the picturesque Transnistrian landscape," the report said.
According to ecoactivists, the popularity of the "Fairy Ravine" in social networks has become no less important factor in the creation of the reserve than rare plants.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the south of Kyiv region, near the village of Yemchikha, in Obukhiv district, a 26-hectare reserve of local importance, Dubovy Yar, was created. It is one of the richest in the region for rare steppe species.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, the court in the Kyiv region satisfied the prosecution's claims regarding the return to communal ownership of 4 hectares of land in the regional landscape park Trahtemiriv.
