Near Kharkiv on the territory 2,189 fish of various species and 5 ducks died in the Udy River of the Pisochyn community.
The water in the river became cloudy with an unpleasant smell, and oily stains were found in places where dead fish were gathered, the State Environmental Inspection in the Kharkiv region reported on Facebook.
It is noted that the plague occurred near the trading floor of the "Losk" market in Kharkiv. Among the dead fish were found:
- gossip – 411 fish;
- tench – 8 fish;
- yorsha – 44 fish;
- bull – 3 fish;
- catfish – 5 fish;
- bream – 6 fish;
- zander – 2 fish;
- pike – 25 fish;
- carp – 2 fish;
- perch – 1,683 fish.
The report emphasized that the total area of accumulation of dead fish reached 32 m2 on a 350-meter-long section of the river.
Eco-inspectors took water samples for laboratory research. They also prepare materials for transfer to the prosecutor's office.
"The preservation of the environment, in particular, the preservation of fish and objects of aquatic living resources, is the joint responsibility of everyone. Compliance with the established rules is a necessary step to ensure the stability of our water environment," the press service said.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the State Geology and Subsoil Service has suspended for 5 years the special permit for the extraction of gas and condensate of PJSC "Ukrgazvydobutok" on the territory of the Merefyansk community near Kharkiv. Due to mining, the water in the lake and wells of the villages of Verkhnya and Nizhnya Ozeryana is contaminated with oil products (11.8 times higher content) and iron (37.7 times higher).
