Losses from atmospheric air pollution due to fires at electrical substations amounted to almost 5 million hryvnias

Eco-inspectors calculated 115.2 million hryvnias of damage to the environment from enemy shelling of energy infrastructure facilities in Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

Since the fall of 2022, 13 power substations have been damaged in these regions, according to the State Environmental Inspection of the Southwestern District on Facebook.

The report emphasized that, in addition to power outages, the shelling caused transformers, electrical equipment and property to catch fire, buildings to be destroyed, and land to be littered with construction waste.

The press service emphasized that the damage caused by the pollution of land resources reached 110.4 million hryvnias. In addition, losses from atmospheric air pollution due to fires at electrical substations amounted to 4.8 million hryvnias.

"Information about the damage caused has been entered into the general register of damages caused to the environment as a result of the invasion of the Russian Federation," the message said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that during the year of the full-scale war, the occupiers caused damage to Ukraine's environment in the amount of about 1.9 trillion hryvnias. During this time, more than 2,300 crimes against nature were documented.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Kyiv, Russian missile strikes on one of the CHP plants on October 10 caused a large-scale clogging of an open plot of land with waste. Damage to the environment amounted to almost 21 million hryvnias.
