The Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management recommended for consideration in Verkhovna Rada draft law No. 6077 "On limiting the circulation of plastic".

The document is designed to minimize the negative impact of plastic on the environment, reports People's Deputy of the EcoCommittee Eduard Proschuk on Facebook.

He noted that the draft law provides for:

  • limiting the production, import into Ukraine and distribution of single-use plastic and oxo-degradable plastic products;
  • the obligation to label environmentally hazardous types of plastic and products made from them;
  • state market supervision and control of single-use plastic products, etc.

Proschuk emphasized that the document pays special attention to limiting oxo-degradable plastic products. After all, during its decomposition, microplastic is formed, which enters the environment, water, food, human and animal bodies.

Microplastics increase risks oncological diseases and hormonal disorders, and also makes bacteria stable to antibiotics.

"The draft law No. 6077 is Ukraine's path to a clean and safe environment. We are waiting for support in the session hall," the people's deputy emphasized.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, draft law No. 6077 offers set a fine of 17,000 to 51,000 hryvnias for providing prohibited products on the market of Ukraine.
