The land suffered the greatest damage

Eco-inspectors calculated more than 3.5 billion hryvnias of damages in the liberated territories of the Kharkiv region caused by Russian troops at 26 surveyed objects.

Fixation of damage in other areas continues, reports State Inspection on Telegram.

From September 20 to October 15, 2022, they recorded numerous facts of violations of the requirements of environmental protection legislation and damage to natural resources caused by the armed aggression of the russian federation.

Eco-inspectors found littering on a total area of more than 55,725 m2 with plastic, wood, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, glass, paper, brick, slate and concrete. Damage to the environment amounted to more than 3.2 billion hryvnias.

They also recorded fires and ash piles on the territory of the Andriiv Forestry, which is part of the Izyum Forest Farm, with an area of 18.55 hectares. During forest fires, there was an unorganized release of pollutants into the atmosphere. This caused 61.6 million hryvnias in damages.

The report noted that due to constant shelling by Russian troops, the dam of the Oskil reservoir was destroyed, and as a result, the water level in the reservoir dropped to a critical level. This led to the destruction of biological activity in the water area of the reservoir and a massive sea of inhabited aquatic animals. The amount of damage was more than 287.3 million hryvnias.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets said that damage from Russian aggression to the environment of Kharkiv region reached 83 billion UAH.
