The installation of the first wind turbine of the Ostrovsky wind farm with a capacity of 4.8 MW has been completed in the Nyzhnivoritska community on the border of Lviv and Zakarpattia regions.
The height of its tower reaches 120 meters and the rotor diameter is 152 meters, the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association reports on Facebook.
It is noted that this wind turbine is of medium size compared to others in Ukraine. The wind farm is being built by the company UK Wind Parks of Ukraine.
"The installation of the first wind turbine is an important step in the implementation of any wind energy project. The next step is to connect to the power grid and generate electricity for consumers," the statement emphasized.
UWEA said that the capacity of the Ostrovska wind farm will reach 80 MW. It will be able to provide green energy to about 50 thousand families.
It is noted that, in addition to energy, the Nizhnevoritsk community will also receive other benefits from the wind farm. Thus, the wind farm sends 3% of the income from the sale of electricity to the community budget. That is, from the operation of just one wind turbine, the community will receive about 1.5 million hryvnias.
"Ostrovskyi Wind Park is a new economic and social privilege for the Nizhnyovoritsk community and the region as a whole," UVEA added.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the head of the board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UVEA) Andrii Konechenkov said that during the full-scale war in Ukraine, three wind power plants with a total capacity of 228.5 MW were put into operation.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, Slovakia can expand business activity in Transcarpathia, in particular in the field of development of wind energy.
