In Transcarpathia, eco-inspectors discovered illegal felling of trees in the regional landscape park "Prytisyanske", which caused damages of over 45.3 million hryvnias.

This is the most high-profile environmental disturbance during the week from June 2 to 8, during which the damage was estimated at more than 97.2 million hryvnias, the State Environmental Inspection reports on Facebook.

Eco-inspectors said that the anti-leaders of the week were also the Dnipropetrovsk region, where losses reached almost 21 million hryvnias from:

  • destruction of 3,398 trees in field protection forest strips of the Novopil village council of Kryvorizka district – 19.9 million hryvnias;
  • arbitrary use of water resources without the permission of "Riston Oil" LLC – 803.7 thousand hryvnias.

They also calculated over 41 million hryvnias of eco-damages in the Chernihiv region from:

  • continuous felling without an environmental impact assessment in the Ripkirayagroforestry farm, near the village of Korchivya of the Ripky community, in 2020 – 39.1 million hryvnias;
  • of spontaneous extraction of peat in the Nizhyn district of Polyskyi khliboproduktiv LLC – 2.1 million hryvnias.

It is noted that materials from all cases were handed over to law enforcement officers.

The message emphasized that during this period, eco-inspectors conducted 96 control measures and drew up 242 protocols on administrative offenses. In a week they:

  • fines of 45,000 hryvnias were imposed;
  • calculated UAH 97.2 million in damages for violating the requirements of environmental protection legislation;
  • presented claims for UAH 62.7 million;
  • collected damages in the amount of 3.5 million hryvnias in a voluntary and forced manner.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Chernihiv region, the director and chief forester of one of the forest farms reported suspicion of illegal logging trees for 39 million hryvnias. Since April 2020, the director, with a prior collusion with subordinate employees, organized the illegal felling of trees without an environmental impact assessment report.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the regional branch of "Lviv Railway" JSC "Ukrainian Railway" reimbursed 340.7 thousand hryvnias for the destruction of 233 trees in the Zhovkiv district.
