The regional branch of Lviv Railway of Ukrainian Railways (UZ) reimbursed 340.7 thousand hryvnias for the destruction of 233 trees in Zhovkiv district.

Eco-inspectors discovered violations back in February 2020, the State Environmental Inspection in the Lviv Region reports on Facebook.

The press service said that during the pre-trial investigation, the person who committed the offense was not identified.

It is noted that through the court, damages were recovered from Lviv Railway, which is a permanent forest user of the site and did not ensure proper protection and preservation of the forest from illegal felling and illegal actions.

Eco-inspectors said that the Economic Court of Lviv region satisfied the claim on March 2. The damage has now been fully compensated.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wtote, that in January 2022, People's Deputy Andriy Odarchenko accused the management of Ukrainain Railways of official negligence and corruption, which led to massive pollution of the company's territories. Among other things, he accused Vasyl Kyrylyuk of allowing massive deforestation to the tune of almost 6.3 million hryvnias, as well as illegal granite mining, which caused damage to the state of 850 million hryvnias.
