An agricultural company will pay a colossal amount for air pollution in Vinnytsia

The company ignored the claim for voluntary damages

In Vinnytsia, the court ordered an enterprise specializing in the storage of agricultural products to pay over 815,000 hryvnias for air pollution in the Tulchyn district.

In 2021, the company used grain drying equipment without a permit to emit pollutants into the air, reports the State Environmental Inspection in the Vinnytsia region.

It is noted that during the operation of the equipment, the following were released into the air:

  • carbon monoxide;
  • nitrogen oxides;
  • solid particles (dust).

The message emphasized that violations were discovered in 2021 at several production sites of the enterprise. However, the company ignored the claim for voluntary damages.

The eco-inspectors turned to the Tulchyna District Prosecutor's Office, which referred the case to court.

"The funds will go to environmental protection funds and can be used in the future to implement environmental protection measures," the press service said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Vinnytsia, the former manager of the Mogilev-Podilskyi forest farm, who illegally issued permits for cutting down trees worth 53 million UAH, will be tried. And also the former acting the deputy head of the Vinnytsia Oblast Department of Forestry and Hunting, who approved these logging tickets.
