More than 900 thousand hryvnias from the paid eco-taxes were transferred to the state budget

In Varash, in the Rivne region, polluting enterprises paid 1.9 million hryvnias in environmental taxes for the first half of 2023.

From this amount, about 1 million UAH was credited to the special fund of the local budget, the State Tax Service in the Rivne Region reports.

In the message, it was emphasized that the eco-tax is a state-wide mandatory payment that is paid for the actual volumes:

  • emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere;
  • discharged pollutants into water bodies;
  • waste placement.

It is noted that polluters are required to submit information on the number of sources and emissions to the relevant regulatory authorities at their location.

The report said that more than 900,000 hryvnias from the paid eco-taxes were transferred to the state budget.

The environmental tax is most often paid for emissions into the atmosphere and discharges of pollutants into water bodies. Currently, the environmental tax rate on CO2 emissions in Ukraine is one of the lowest in the world.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Lviv region, polluting enterprises for January-March 2023 (first quarter) paid 33.8 million hryvnias of environmental tax. The amount of eco-taxes increased by 7 million hryvnias compared to the same period in 2022.

Previously, EcoPolitic analyzed who pays eco-taxes, how much and for what in Ukraine.
