Three lines for recycling waste generated as a result of the destruction caused by the fighting, i.e. destroyed buildings, will start operating in Kyiv region.

The lines will operate with the help of 30 units of special equipment provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), according to the Kyiv Regional State Administration.

It is noted that this initiative is part of a pilot project to recycle demolition waste. Currently, building rubble is stored at 32 sites in different territorial communities.

The report explains that special equipment is used to dismantle, transport, and dispose of the destroyed objects.

"Recycling and disposal of waste is an important aspect of reconstruction. After all, in the process of dismantling destroyed and rebuilding objects, the amount of construction waste is constantly increasing. We must not just get rid of this waste, but apply the ecological principle to disposal. Sorting, processing and reusing material is the right approach," said Mykola Boyko, the first deputy head of the Code.

He added that one stationary processing line will work in Borodyanka, and 2 mobile ones will work in other communities.

Boyko said that currently territorial communities are updating data on the amount of such waste and needs. After that, a work schedule for sorting and disposal of garbage will be formed in:

  • Buchi;
  • Gorenci;
  • Bearded men;
  • Irpeni;
  • other cities and villages.

It is noted that more than 28,800 objects, including 26,000 private and high-rise buildings, were destroyed as a result of Russian aggression in the Kyiv region. So far, it has been possible to completely or partially restore about 16,600 objects.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the international company Miyamoto International will help establish processing of destruction waste, i.e. buildings destroyed by the occupiers, in the Kyiv region.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-inspectors calculated more than 49.2 billion hryvnias of damages for the environment of Kyiv Oblast caused by Russian aggression since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
