In Bukovyna, a forestry official has been notified of suspicion of abuse of office, which led to the illegal felling of trees worth UAH 900,000.

He illegally issued logging tickets for felling in the forestry of the Chernivtsi district, according to the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office.

It is noted that regional prosecutors worked on the case together with specialists from the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office. The forensic engineering and environmental expertise estimated the environmental damage at 900 thousand hryvnias.

"According to the investigation, in 2023, the suspect, exceeding his official authority, illegally issued logging tickets for logging for the main use on the territory of one of the forests of the Chernivtsi district," the report says.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in the Chernivtsi region, 5 former employees of the Berehomet forest and hunting farm were informed of the suspicion that they had caused damages of more than 2 million hryvnias to the state. The perpetrators deliberately indicated a smaller diameter of the felled wood in the documents in order to divide the surplus among themselves.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Chernivtsi region, the police informed the chief of one of the railway stations, who arbitrarily destroyed trees worth more than 1 million hryvnias, of suspicion of committing a criminal offense.
