The law "On waste management" came into force on July 9

The Cabinet of Ministers amended the Regulation on the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources to bring it into line with the norms of the Waste Management Law.

The agency will form and implement state policies in the field of waste management, Taras Melnichuk, a representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, reports on Telegram.

The Cabinet of Ministers also approved the procedure for crediting funds to special accounts for the implementation of investment programs in the field of household waste management, the use of these funds and monitoring their spending.

As you know, the Waste Management Law came into force on 9 July. The document launches a waste management reform and brings Ukrainian legislation closer to EU standards.

The Ministry of Natural Resources emphasized that this Law is a framework law and needs sectoral legislation, in particular, on the management of household and industrial waste. Among other documents, the following are currently being prepared for consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers:

  • Draft resolution "Some issues of classifying substances or objects as by-products";
  • Draft resolution "On Approval of the Order of Waste Classification and the National List of Wastes";
  • Draft resolution "Some issues of the announcement of the termination of the waste status".

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Ukrainian entrepreneurs will receive an opinion on the import and export from abroad waste from the green list only in online format on the EcoSystem platform. Such waste includes scrap, used clothes or shoes, waste paper, etc.

As EcoPolitic reported earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Procedure for the Development of Regional Waste Management Plans, which establishes uniform approaches to strategic planning of waste management in the regions.
