Public access to the registry will be open for three months after the end of martial law

In Kyiv, a register of permits for emissions of polluting substances into atmospheric air was created.

This will make it possible to identify the centers of the greatest pollution, forecast and improve air quality, etc., reports Oleksandr Vozny, Head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the KMDA, on Facebook.

He said that the register currently contains more than 900 permits issued to business entities and it continues to be filled. The registry is expected to be fully populated by June 2023.

"After the publication of the register, every citizen of Kyiv will have the opportunity to conveniently obtain comprehensive information about the relevant permit documents of enterprises of the capital, which have the right to emit pollutants into the air," said Vozniy.

He also added that the permit for emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air by stationary sources is an official document that gives enterprises the right to emit a certain amount of pollutants within a specified period. The register will contain information on the names of business entities, information on the permit itself and the potential volume of emissions provided for by it.

Public access to the registry will be provided for three months after the end of martial law.

Vozny emphasized that such a register will allow:

  • record the total list and volume of pollutants emitted into the atmospheric air of the city;
  • visualize a map with sources of pollutants;
  • to identify the centers of the highest concentration of pollutants;
  • start working on an air quality index forecasting system and an air quality improvement program.

As EcoPolitic reported before, the Kyiv City Council supported the State Program monitoring in the field of atmospheric air protection of the city, which will expand the existing monitoring network and contribute to the improvement of air quality.
