The installed capacity of solar energy increased to 490 million kW

In China, renewable energy capacity reached 2.74 billion kW in the first seven months of 2023, up 11.5% from the same period in 2022.

In 2023, the total investment of China's major energy companies in solar energy will increase by 108.7% and reach $22.39 billion, reports XINHUANET.

"During the first seven months of 2023, China saw a steady increase in new installed clean energy capacity," the report said.

According to the National Energy Administration (NEA), recently installed solar capacity has increased by 42.9%, compared to 2022, to 490 million kW.

In addition, wind power capacity was approximately 390 million kW, representing an annual increase of 14.3%.

We will remind you that China launched the world's largest solar power plant Huadian Tianjin Haijing with a capacity of 1000 MW. The SPP is located on the reservoir of a salt deposit, and the project covers integrated salt extraction, electricity production and fishing.

As EcoPolitics previously reported, a study by the non-profit organization Environmental Progress showed that the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for about 10 years understated by 3-5 times the carbon footprint of solar panels produced in China.
