The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made changes to the Regulations on the State Inspectorate, which expanded a number of powers for calculating the damage caused by the war.
This will allow eco-inspectors to quickly process events and transfer materials to the Operational Headquarters and law enforcement agencies, reports State Inspection on Telegram.
From now on, specialists of the State Environmental Inspection will carry out laboratory analysis of the state of land pollution, in particular radioactive, in the zones of direct influence of emissions and discharges of polluting substances. This applies to events resulting from accidents, emergency situations, military aggression, military, terrorist or other criminal acts.
In addition, eco-inspectors will be able to independently and unobstructedly inspect territories and objects affected by accidents, emergency situations, military aggression, military, terrorist or other criminal acts to calculate the amount of damage, losses and losses caused to the surrounding natural environment and natural resources of Ukraine.
The report emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the experts of the State Inspectorate carried out inspections of the damaged territories exclusively together with law enforcement agencies and in case of involvement.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that eco-inspectors calculated almost 58 million hryvnias of damage to the environment as a result of missile strikes on the Kharkiv Mechanical Repair Plant.
