In Cherkasy region almost completely plowed the reserve "Velikosevastyanovskie ravines"

It was created in 2010 to preserve and reproduce the natural complexes characteristic of the Right Bank Steppe

In the Khrystynivka district of Cherkasy region, unknown offenders almost completely destroyed the Velykosevastyanivski Yar Botanical Reserve. They plowed up the lower reaches of the ravines along with springs and a water protection strip, and even plowed up the slopes of the ravines, which have an angle of 15 degrees.

This was reported by experts of the Ukrainian Nature Protection Group (UPG) on Facebook.

In early April, they recorded large-scale destruction on the territory of this nature reserve:

  • the valley of the beams is plowed together with springs and a water protection strip;
  • reed beds are burnt together with bird nests, partly also plowed over;
  • plowed slopes of beams, including those whose angle reaches 15 degrees;
  • burned verbologists;
  • drained pond;
  • the marshy lowland was drained with the help of melioration channels, partially plowed and planted with vegetable crops last year.

UPG ecologists noted that the development of the reserve's lands began in 2015, and since then the plowed area has been increasing every year. They appealed to the Attorney General's Office to ensure that the perpetrators of this crime are punished and forced to return the territory to its natural state.

In January, EсoPolitiс reported that in Kyiv vodokanal destroyed part of the landscape reserve "Desnyansky meadows". At that time, eco-inspectors calculated 2.6 million hryvnias in damages.
