The city plans to purchase about 30 modern electric buses

Kharkiv City Council will purchase €15 million worth of electric city buses with a loan from the European Investment Bank.

The tender for the supply will last until April 15, according to the European Union's tender website.

It is noted that the length of the electric buses should be 12 meters (± 0.5 m). The new buses must also be equipped with a platform for wheelchair passengers.

The supply should include:

  • spare parts
  • consumables
  • equipment
  • tools for maintenance and repair and related services.

The estimated value excluding VAT is €15 million.

In July 2023, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov announced that the city would purchase about 30 modern electric buses for public transportation routes. A €15 million loan for the purchase of new buses will be provided by the European Investment Bank at a very low interest rate.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that the city plans to use a number of green technologies to have cheap electricity. This will help not to increase fares for city electric transport, as well as tariffs for other utilities.
