The High Anti-Corruption Court has granted bail to Vitaliy Sukhovych, a member of the Rivne Regional Council and former chief forester of Rivne region, but the amount of bail was reduced from UAH 192.9 million to UAH 15.14 million.
The former official is suspected of illicit enrichment of more than UAH 99 million, according to Chetverta Vlada.
It is noted that the amount of illicit enrichment was established by the investigation as the difference between the declared income and the income seized from him during searches.
The article says that the court sent Sukhovych to custody for sixty days and set bail at UAH 192 million on November 27, 2023, two days after the searches. In December, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine was assigned jurisdiction in the proceedings, and the case was transferred to the HACC. On January 18, Sukhovych's detention was extended due to the risk of absconding from the investigation. However, the bail was reduced to UAH 15.14 million.
"The reason for the decrease in the amount of the deposit is the obvious inability to deposit the deposit in the amount of 192,917,868 hryvnias for a long time," the material said, adding that the deposit was made on January 24.
It is noted that UAH 5 million of the bail was transferred to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In case the preventive measure is canceled, the bailor will be returned only UAH 10.14 million.
The press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office said that the judge's ruling would not be appealed, as the HACC ordered Vitaliy Sukhovych to wear electronic monitoring devices. He is now obliged not to leave his place of residence.
