The EcoCommittee will hold an on-site meeting in the Kherson region on June 12

People's deputies will listen to reports from representatives of a number of ministries

On Monday, June 12, a meeting of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Environmental Policy and Nature Management will be held in Kherson Oblast regarding overcoming the negative impact on the environment and the life support system of the population as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP.

People's deputies will listen to reports on:

  • assessment of the catastrophic impact on the environment due to the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP and taking appropriate measures (the speaker is the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources);
  • implementation of state supervision (control) in the field of environmental protection and preliminary assessment and calculation of damages due to flooding of the territories of the Kherson region (State Ecological Inspection);
  • management, use and reproduction of surface water resources and the implementation of measures related to the prevention of harmful effects of water due to the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP (State Water Resources Agency);
  • liquidation of the consequences of an emergency situation and prompt implementation of emergency measures regarding the evacuation of the population from flooded areas of the Kherson Region (State Emergency Situations Service);
  • monitoring, epidemic surveillance, disease control and prevention in flooded areas, as well as taking measures to disinfect drinking water in the Kherson region (Ministry of Health, State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection);
  • safety, individual quality indicators of food products and sanitary and epidemic well-being of the population ( State Production and Consumer Service);
  • the possibility of urgent drilling of wells to urgently provide the population with drinking water (State Geology and Subsoil Service);
  • the impact of the consequences of the destruction of Kakhovskaya HPP on the condition of forests (State Agency of Forest Resources);
  • restoration of the region and infrastructure affected by the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP (Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure);
  • condition, quality and alternative ways of providing drinking water to citizens in the affected regions (Ministry of Infrastructure);
  • ways of state control over pricing of drinking water in the Kherson region (Ministry of Economy).

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kryvyi Rih due to the undermining of Kakhovskaya HPP reserves enough fresh water for 6 weeks under the condition of economical consumption. Also Mykolaiv may be left without water.
